About Comparisoft

Comparisoft helps businesses find the right software for their specific industry, not the right software for "everyone."

Why this site exists

Search for "best CRM" and you'll find a hundred articles ranking the same eight or nine tools in roughly the same order. Most of them are written without any consideration for the industry the reader actually works in. The best CRM for a 12-person law firm has very little overlap with the best CRM for a salon chain or a custom homebuilder — but the generic lists rarely make this distinction.

Comparisoft is built around the inverse premise: software recommendations are most useful when they're grounded in the workflows, compliance requirements, and integration needs of a specific vertical. Every comparison on this site is written for a specific category-and-industry combination, not a generic audience.

How we work

For each category-vertical combination we cover, we identify the tools that businesses in that industry actually use, evaluate them against criteria weighted for that vertical's needs, and write a review explaining which tool fits which type of business. We don't use a single composite score across all software — that level of false precision doesn't reflect how software evaluation actually works.

For the full picture of our research process, evaluation criteria, and editorial independence policy, see our methodology.

What we cover

We currently publish reviews across 10 software categories — CRM, project management, scheduling, accounting & invoicing, email marketing, help desk, HR & payroll, field service management, proposals & estimating, and inventory management — with coverage extending across 20 verticals from professional services to trades to specialty practices.

Not every category-vertical combination produces a useful page. A field service management page for an architecture firm doesn't serve any real reader, so we don't publish one. Where we've made an editorial decision not to cover a combination, we document the reasoning publicly.

Who's behind it

Comparisoft is built and operated by Macrolific, a small studio focused on building useful software products and content. Macrolific operates several sites and applications across different verticals; Comparisoft is the part of the portfolio focused on B2B software discovery.

Editorial standards

We don't sell placements, rankings, or reviews. No vendor can pay to appear on our lists, improve their ranking, or alter the content of their review. Where we use affiliate links, we disclose them, and they don't influence rankings or inclusions. Read our full editorial independence policy in the methodology.
